Now, what about other cars I have?

As for now, I own three cars under my name—Subaru, Honda, and BMW. Yikes. I’m becoming like a junkyard guy now. So that’s why tomorrow morning, I’m gonna clean and fix up the BMW a bit, putting some fresh mags with alloy wheel insurance making it look clean and nice. Then park the car at my uncle’s workplace where he said it will be sold within a week, guaranteed. So we’ll see about that.

Then in the afternoon, I gotta pick up my friend at the airport, and zoom to Gallaudet (where his dorm is) to watch NFL playoffs games and have some beers and Chinese food. It should be a good time especially with my WRX :-)

WRX, you’re my new baby.

Just a little quickie post here to keep the blog streak going. As seen by the picture below, I got the WRX! It’s like a dream come true to own the car. I’ve been hearing/reading about WRX ever since they came out in 2002 and was widely known for their World Rally Championship success. Now that I own one, I gotta learn how to drive like one. Making U-turns, drifting, heel-braking. I’m gonna swap uppipe, downpipe, and exhaust because the factory-made pipes have catalyst converters in them, slowing down the air flow. Man, I’m so excited. This is how you enjoy life!

This video is probably why I wanted the car. :-)

Washington – 113 Chicago – 103

That’s the final score of the game at the Verizon Center I got back from. It’s my first time watching Chicago Bulls play against the Wizards. Ofc, I was disappointed to see the Bulls lose but it was cool to watch them play in front of my eyes instead of a tube. It was pretty amazing to see how reliable they can knock down baskets during warm-ups, even Ben Wallace too. The best shooter has to be Gilbert Arenas of the Wizards. It’s unbelievable how he can get off a shot and he has a feather-like touch to the ball that gets him nothing but the net. He just brings up the ball and snap his wrist and it’s gonna be in. Ben Gordon was also awesome but it’s too bad that he is pretty short at like 6’1”. He’d be much more lethal if he was taller like Dwayne Wade.

My friend, William Tai, was the one who got tickets for me. He got them pretty cheap because they were employee discount tickets and we sat in the section 219, not too bad, better than the upper section. It was a college night on Wednesday so there were lots of kids sitting in the upper level with a few visible empty seats. He said he loves going to the Verizon center so that’s cool. Now I know who to tag with.

It was cool to see Ben Wallace too. His body is made of irons and he looks more like a football tight end than he is a basketball player. He has quick hands, anticipate rebounds well and can move like a guard. I got a laugh from watching poor Mike Sweetney, number 50. He has the widest body on the floor and he does possess some post moves and I feel if he really works hard to lose some fat, maintain his weight, and become more mobile, he’d make a terrific player that would give a post presence to his team. There’s a reason why he is a professional in the first place.

After watching them play on the floor, it’s a little hard to imagine that they’re earning millions of dollars to play the sport and have us as fans to come watch them play. In the purest sense, they are just like us who enjoy playing basketball and they just so happen to be bigger, taller and faster. They look like everyone else and it’s the media that makes them look larger than life. I think the best part about going to games is not to witness them in person but to hang out with your friends, have some beers, eat juicy burgers, and do some yelling/booing to support your favorite team. That’s truly it’s all about.

The ultimate resolution for 2007

Looks like I’m a little late to be making a resolution right now but better than never! So, ten days has passed into 2007. I had some thoughts of what resolutions I should make for 2007 before the final clicks of two thousand six. But I made an excuse that everyone else uses—that resolutions are almost always the same and they tend to fail. Why bother? However, I did manage to think of some resolutions in my mind like you’re having a silent prayer in your brain. My resolutions were to go to gym more consistently, read more books (seems like I spend all of my reading on the web), get into touch with my Korean family more, learn how to read/write Hangul, go outdoors more often like camping, hiking, fishing, snowboarding, design a few websites for my friends, hang out with friends more and save money. Well, these are pretty common resolutions, so I guess that’s why I made the excuse.

Till now.

I’ve decided I will have a resolution for 2007. It’s going to sound ultimate. I’m gonna blog at least once per day till Dec. 31st. Yes that’s right, everyday, 365, no, I missed ten days, so it’s 355. This is the first one. I’ve always enjoy writing and I’m like this guy who looks at other people’s blogs and say damn I wish I could write like that or my writing is never going to be as good as theirs. Well, so what? at least I can read/write and do my best to follow the grammar rules. Who gives a shit if that person could write like William Faulkner or William Shakespeare? those words are mine. They form my writing style. And to get better at anything, you have to practice. For my writing to get better, I gotta blog everyday. I really have no excuse not to blog; I have like five different ways to post, both on computer and off. I can post through my new blackberry, gmail, macbook, and desktop. I sorta have this theory that the more you blog, the more productive you’ll be. I’m not really sure why or how I make that conclusion but I just feel it has to be. We will find out next year. :-)

I remember last year or two years ago that someone vows to read one book per week, so that would be 54 books in one year. I thought that was a fascinating idea and a great way to keep the commitment so that’s probably where I got my inspiration for this blogging idea.

Tomorrow, I’m gonna write something about the law of attraction. It should be interesting.

Here’s 355 days to go.

Blogger of Kottke.org posted a link about the usage of Deaf terms

As I was browsing through the net on my last night before I fly home (Illinois) for the holidays, I checked kottke.org and saw that he posted a link to nad.org about an article of how Deaf people prefer to be called deaf or hard of hearing, not deaf-mutes or hearing-impaired. His blog, Kottke.org, is one of the top blogs and is ranked at 26th for the most favorited blogs on technorati.com with 10,859 links coming from 3,795 blogs, so he receives tons of traffic to his blog. It’s always nice to see a person like him to post a link because it means more exposure to our deaf community of how we want to be viewed as.

I say kudos to the guy of kottke.org and hope that people will remember not to call us deaf mutes or hearing impaired.

December 22nd

So, I’m free from work and on a much needed vacation that shall last for 12 days. Gonna be coming home to spend time with my parents and grandmother—-just four of us. The rest of everybody else is either buried or a distance too far except for one relative. That relative is my uncle, my mom’s only brother. Which is one of the big disappointments that my mom has, as she and her brother were never close. You can probably link that to a communication barrier since my mom is deaf and he isn’t. But that’s still no excuse. Everybody can learn sign language—-don’t have to be equally fluent but just enough to carry a conversational mode—-so it shouldn’t matter. With that, I’m also disappointed with my uncle. Anyway, with just four of us, it reminds me of one funny movie called My Big Fat Greek Wedding. It has that scene where everybody’s at the wedding in a chapel and the aisle of the groom is all empty except for his parents and maybe some relatives. When I saw that scene, it reminded exactly of us and if I ever got married, I think we’d be like that, with the front row barely filled. In case you’re wondering about my dad’s, he is an only child just like me and we’re also born in the same digit year. He was born in 1951 and me in 1981. We graduated in the same digit year too—-1969 and 1999. So, it’s always easy to remember my dad’s age, just add thirty years.

Christmas is my mom’s favorite holiday of all and that’s because I got adopted and came abroad on December 22nd. My mom said it’s the best gift she could have and every year we get to celebrate Christmas together, it’s a bonus. I also ought know better not to ever miss this holiday because I may want to be somewhere else like snowboarding in Colorado with my buddies since Illinois only has bunny hills. My mom would be so heart broken and has said it wouldn’t be Christmas if I didn’t come. (another movie popped in my head, the movie called I’ll be home for Christmas with Jonathan Taylor Thomas, as his family demands him to be home.) Since I’m an only child, it’s true that I get all the gifts any child could dream of, even though I’ve told my parents many times that there is NO need for those but they insisted. I realize my parents wanted to show their love in the most way they can. I’m just grateful to be home with my parents and spend some quality time together. I feel that money spent on expensive gifts could be better invested toward something else like stocks, real estate or even vacation getaways for memories. I would like that very much. Maybe I should discuss this with my parents but a little uncomfortable trying to tell them what they should do with their money.

Today’s December 22nd. I’m grateful for what I have and will never to take things for granted. Indeed, I’m blessed. Mom and Dad, I’m looking forward to come home.

DDR God

Damn, I wish I could be good at DDR. Also, there’s a guy who lost 60 pounds from playing DDR everyday.

What's up with him lately? Avatar
